Bucket collection on Sunday in support of the Celtic Kenyan Connection.

Postby Joe O'Rourke » Fri Oct 05, 2012 10:44 am

On Saturday 4th August, Celtic Charity Fund launched its 1254125 Fundraising Initiative. We are asking every Celtic supporter across the globe to raise £125 in the Club's 125th Anniversary Year to improve the lives of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people.

One of the key 1254125 projects is ‘Celtic’s Kenyan Connection 2013’. This life changing initiative will involve a group of 28 Celtic Charity Fund volunteers embarking on a 10 day trip to help work in local schools in the largest slum in Africa - Kibera, Kenya. It follows the huge success of our inaugural trip to Africa in November 2011.

Due to the overwhelming response from the Celtic Family, all places have now been filled and the 28 representatives will set off on 13th January 2013.

As part of the trip, we are also looking to raise £18,880 for Celtic Charity Fund and the Kibera Celtic Foundation, a fundraising target to commemorate the Club's inception in 1888.

(Not so) fresh from climbing Ben Lomond on 16th September, the participants themselves and their friends and family will be hosting a bucket collection at the Celtic v Hearts match on Sunday 7th October. Collectors will be in place at all turnstile areas so please lend your support to their wonderful efforts for Celtic Charity Fund and Kibera Celtic Foundation.

Celtic Charity Fund was set up in 1995 and operates as a charitable trust, registered with OSCR. It aims to raise funds and support specific areas of charity work, while upholding and promoting the charitable principles and heritage of the football club. Since inception, it has raised over £4.5m for a host of worthy causes on a local, national and international basis.

Established in 2008 as a self-help programme, the Kibera Celtic Foundation links sport with small business development, AIDS awareness and other community programmes, including health and education.
